Here’s the recipe for flawless hands and feet, so home SPA in its best version.

HOW TO ARRANGE YOUR HOME FOOT SPA STEP BY STEP

1. Get your feet ready for the procedure – remove nail polish and cut the nails. Mind you, it’s better to cut your foot nails straight because round shape of a nail plate might encourage the nails to grow into skin.

2. Foot bath – add special foot bath salt to a bowl filled with water, or use herbs combined with natural oils. This is a perfect way to help your exhausted feet to relax and have a well-deserved rest. Foot bath with salt or vegetable extracts reduces swelling and soothes foot pain, softens skin and acts antiseptic. Basically, drugstores offer a wide range of various foot salts, frequently they have additional aromatherapeutic features. Keep your feet in the bowl with water for no longer than 20 minutes.

Foot bath. What can we add to water to boost its conditioning action?

  • a substance that is recognized as a good moisturiser is wildflower honey as well as avocado oil; add two teaspoons of either substance to water and mix delicately so as to help them combine;
  • lemon juice, cinnamon or buttermilk are good at refreshing fatigued feet; you can use regular milk as well since it has additional moisturising features;
  • if your feet are exceptionally dry, you can use pineapple juice or coconut milk;
  • one of the best natural foot moisturizers is aloe juice; just add it to foot bath (a half of glass will do); you can either extract it yourself or buy readymade product in a drugstore or eco-shop

3. Foot scrub – is another incredibly important element of any home SPA. It’s best to carry out the procedure right after leaving a bath tube when epidermis is softened so it’s easier to remove the calloused patches. Foot scrub boosts blood circulation and soothes even the roughest skin.

One of the most popular homemade foot scrubs is a cosmetic made from sugar, honey and cinnamon. Combine: ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, 2 spoons of honey and 2 spoons of sugar. Keep massaging your DIY scrub into feet until sugar melts.

Another good way for homemade foot scrub is combining 4 spoons of sea salt with 2 spoons of cream/buttermilk. Massage the DIY foot scrub into skin for a few minutes, rinse and dry with a towel.

4. Foot cream – can’t do without it. A good foot cream refreshes feet, replenishes skin with water and makes it smooth. There are also creams which task is to prevent abraded wounds and hyperperspiration. Also, you can find creams that soothe feet which tend to swell up due to heat. Obviously, foot cream has to match skin condition. Basically, the best way to apply a foot cream is to do this at bedtime. Put on a thick layer of a cosmetic and wear cotton socks for the entire night. Warmth encourages absorption or the valuable substances the cream contains and the socks prevent staining bedclothes. Additionally, instead of using a cream, you can take advantage of natural oils, for example Shea butter that smooths and nourishes skin very well. Coconut oil applied to feet delivers nourishing and antiseptic action (prevents bacteria multiplication).

HOW TO ARRANGE YOUR HOME HAND SPA STEP BY STEP

1. Hand skin care should also start from bathing – it smooths skin and makes it ready for the upcoming treatments. It’s a good idea to add a lemon juice (highlights skin and makes skin elastic) to a bowl of warm water. Also, you can use flax seed. Before mixing it with water, keep boiling the seeds for 20 minutes and then cool it down. Combine with water. Now, you can draw your hands in the mixture and keep them submerged for 20-30 minutes. Basically, you can also make use of warm milk and honey as well as chamomile infusion.

2. Hand scrub – is as important as foot scrub. It smooths epidermis, makes skin more firm and exfoliates dead epidermis cells. In order to make your homemade hand scrub, you need to mix salt, sugar or ground coffee with a dash of your favourite natural oil. Mind you, if you add honey then your DIY hand scrub wins additional soothing properties. Lemon juice lightens skin up.

3. Hand mask – is the last step of your home SPA. Of course, it can also be prepared on one’s own. The most frequently recommended DIY hand mask is the cosmetic combining honey and egg yolk. Apply the mask to the hands and rinse after 20 minutes. This homemade hand mask can be enriched with a few drops of avocado, jojoba or almond oil.

Note: Exceptionally dry hands should get along with butter mask. Combine a spoon of butter with a spoon of honey. Apply to hands and rinse after 15 minutes.
